How It Works

How the Move-IQ Assessment Works

20 minutes. 10 joint groups. A complete picture of how you move — and where you're at risk.

01 — Before You Start

What You'll Need

Move-IQ requires minimal setup. Here's what to have ready:

1

A smartphone or tablet

Placed on a table or tripod at hip height, facing you. The camera records your movement from a fixed position throughout the assessment.

2

Enough floor space

You'll need enough room to lie down, stand, and perform light dynamic movements. A clear 10×10 ft area is ideal.

3

Comfortable clothing

Shorts or flexible pants that allow the camera to see your knees and ankles. Barefoot is fine — no shoes needed.

4

No warm-up

Do not warm up before the assessment. Move-IQ measures your natural movement state. A warm-up temporarily inflates scores and reduces diagnostic value.

02 — The Protocol

What Happens During the Assessment

The assessment follows a guided video protocol. Each joint group has a specific movement or position the camera records. Your TBAfit dashboard scores each movement as you complete it.

1
~3 min

Cervical & Thoracic Assessment

Seated or standing, you perform neck flexion, extension, rotation, and lateral flexion. The camera captures range of motion and movement quality.

2
~4 min

Shoulder Bilateral Assessment

Standing, you raise each arm through flexion, abduction, and rotation patterns. Left and right are scored independently. Asymmetry is flagged immediately.

3
~3 min

Thoracic & Lumbar Assessment

Seated and standing spinal positions. Rotation, extension, and lateral flexion of the mid and lower back. Compensations like hip hiking or rib flaring are captured.

4
~5 min

Hip Bilateral Assessment

Supine, side-lying, and standing positions. Hip flexion, abduction, and internal/external rotation. This is often where the most significant asymmetries show up.

5
~3 min

Knee & Ankle Bilateral Assessment

Standing and seated positions. Knee flexion/extension and ankle dorsiflexion/plantarflexion. Alignment under partial load is also captured.

03 — Scoring in Real Time

What You Get After the Assessment

Overall Move-IQ Score

A single number (0–100) combining all 10 joint groups. Your baseline for tracking progress over time.

Joint-by-Joint Breakdown

Individual scores for each of the 10 joint groups, with left/right comparison so asymmetry is immediately visible.

Top Strengths & Focus Areas

ATLAS identifies your 3 strongest joint groups and your 3 priority areas for improvement, ranked by clinical impact.

ATLAS Recommendations

AI-generated interpretation of your specific pattern — not generic advice, but exercise suggestions mapped to your actual scores.

04 — After the Assessment

What Comes Next

After your Move-IQ assessment, ATLAS analyzes your scores and generates recommendations. From there, you have two paths:

For Trainers & PTs

Use the scores to build a targeted BluePrint program for your client, starting with exercises mapped to their highest-priority deficits.

For Individuals

Follow the ATLAS-recommended exercises independently, or start a BluePrint program to work through a structured daily plan.

See It in Action

The assessment takes under 20 minutes. No gym. No equipment.
